Description

Serve this easy roman cheese bread with a salad or load it with some roasted vegetables or ham as a tasty sandwich.

Ingredients

1/2 C (125 ml) milk
10 g dry yeast
400 g bread flour
6 large eggs
75 g Pecorino Romano cheese
30 g butter
1 tsp salt
1 Tbsp sugar

Instructions

Warm the milk and place in a bowl. Add the yeast and allow to dissolve and become frothy (about 10 minutes)

Combine the yeast mixture with the flour, eggs, cheese and butter and beat for 5 minutes (this is best done in a free-standing mixer).

Scoop the sticky batter into a greased loaf tin.

Cover the tin with a damp tea towel and allow the batter to rise for 1 hour.

Pre-heat the oven to 180 °C.

Place the tin into the oven and bake for 1 hour until the bread is golden and sounds hollow when tapped.

Allow to cool slightly before serving with lots of butter.
