Junior
The sibling to Royale Eatery, Junior may be known for its healthier take on fast food-styled hamburgers but it would be a sin not to mention their doughnuts. With a baked-not-fried philosophy, their doughnuts have a deliciously soft texture. Our favourite must be the Oreo version, not only is it topped with Oreo cookies but the entire dough is made from Oreos. Be sure to head there early to avoid disappointment.

Where to Get Doughnuts in Jozi
Dope Donuts
Dope Donuts knows how to treat its people. Their doughnuts are made with a soft sponge texture from special vanilla cake doughnut dough and their philosophy is ‘fry never bake’. They don’t believe in too many toppings and favourites are the aptly named Dope Donut, which is Peppermint Crisp topped. If you’re wanting a little indulgence, try the Curious George, coated in Nutella and topped with chocolate and banana chips.

One of the genuine local makers of awesome cronuts – the New York-born doughnut and croissant hybrid. The simple shop-come-cafe only serves cronuts. Why? Because they want to do one thing really well. Their Milk Tart Cronut deserves special mention.

Krispy Kreme
Another import from the land of red, white and blue is Krispy Kreme, which opened the doors to its first store in Johannesburg in 2016. It has opened a steady stream in and around the city since then, as well as at Gateway shopping mall in KZN. None on the Cape Town front as yet though – coming soon though we hear!
