Hearty man-sized food characterizes The Maslow’s My Dad is a Super Hero lunch on Father’s Day (16 June 2019). Locally inspired dishes are laced with some of global flavours that have influenced South African cuisine on a vibrant buffet that speaks to the heart of every day super heroes.

“We have created an exuberant menu that is as real as it is exciting. It is a celebration of the local tastes and flavours which make South African cuisine so tremendously satisfying. It’s a hearty, braai-styled lunch with something for everyone,” says Executive Chef, Juston Jonah.

Father’s Day Menu

The family-friendly lunch will be staged in the hotel’s Lacuna Bistro which overlooks a tranquil oasis garden and features various interconnected spaces, integrated with the outdoors. Guests can languish in the relaxed setting of Lacuna Bistro, mixing and matching a choice of salads, side dishes and succulent meats from the buffet. 

There will be a selection of freshly baked breads with dips; German potato salad, with crispy bacon bits; marinated watermelon and feta salad, with lime, chili and mint dressing; teriyaki beef skewer with couscous and spicy yoghurt dressing, and honey and sesame roasted butternut tossed with gorgonzola cheese, cracked pumpkin seeds. 

From the fire there is traditional boerewors; chicken sosaties brushed with garlic herb oil; char grilled loin of beef; lamb asado with pita breads, hummus and all the trimmings, as well as catch of the day wrapped in banana leaf, in garlic and lemon.

South Africa shines in a choice of side dishes like pap tart with mature cheddar and sweetcorn; braai broodjies with black pepper; homemade chakalaka with red beans and grilled peppers, and roasted mealies on the cob.

For dessert, guests can tuck into treats like pistachio opera; chocolate tart with peppermint crisp; Malva pudding with wild berries; assorted superhero cupcakes and seasonal fruit skewers with honeycomb.
