Description
The all time sarmie classic gets a campfire upgrade.
Ingredients
1 loaf of good quality farm-style white bread, sliced
350 g butter, softened
1 x 400 g jar crunchy peanut butter
1 x 400 g tin strawberry jam
2 jaffle irons
icing sugar for dusting
Instructions
Lay the bread slices out and make sure that each one has a partner. Generously butter both sides of the bread. Add a generous layer of peanut butter followed by a generous layer of strawberry jam to one side of each sandwich. Close up the sarmies and get ready to toast.
Place 2 sarmies into the jaffle irons, then close and secure them. Trim off the excess bread. Toast the jaffles for a few minutes per side over medium heat coals. You can pop them open every now and then to check the progress. When they are evenly golden brown, remove from the jaffle iron and place onto a board. Load the jaffle irons with the next sarmies. Repeat until you’ve toasted all of the jaffles.
To serve, slice the jaffles in half, dust lightly with icing sugar and serve.
