Join in the fun on the blooming banks of the Breede River at the 14th annual, family-friendly Robertson Wine on the River festival in partnership with Nedbank.
Here’s the lowdown on what to expect at the Robertson Wine on the River Festival
On the weekend the most talented winemakers, innovative craftspeople and inspiring chefs from the area will be congregating on Goudmyn Farm off the R317, to treat festival goers to 22 wine farms to showcase the best fine wines.
Interactive wine experiences
Book your seat at this years’ Wine Theatre and be entertained by hosts, Jon Meinking and Wanda Cronje, for unique wine tastings and food pairing experiences that will satiate your senses. Treat yourself with a Connoisseurs ticket and be a VIP for a day in the Nedbank Lounge inclusive of all sorts of goodies and treats. What’s cooking at this year’s Robertson Wine On The River?
The boat is really being pushed out in terms of festival activities for Wine on the River in partnership with Nedbank. Meander through stalls that will showcase local produce, artisanal fare and all sorts of beautiful keepsakes, while listening to live music. A dedicated children’s area will offer activities for all ages. The popular boat cruise will offer leisurely river trips or book a wine safari ride to take you to nearby farms.
Stargazing. Open campfires. Roasted marshmallows. What if you could enjoy all of the benefits of camping without sacrificing on luxury?
Because this year you can – in partnership with Nedbank, Wine on the River is now offering glamping accommodation on the banks of the river a mere 15 minutes from the main festival site.
The couple’s glamping weekend package includes shared tented accommodation for two people for two nights (11 – 13 October), 2 x weekend festival passes, 2 x boat cruise tickets, a shuttle to and from the campsite on Saturday, Interactive Wine Tasting and a complimentary bottle of wine from the Robertson Wine Valley.
Paving the way for safe indulgence
With all that lovely wine in the mix, it is important to always ensure that festival-goers have the means to practice safe indulgence. As part of the festival’s commitment to bringing guests a secure event, a zero-tolerance policy will be upheld with regard to drinking and driving. To support responsible tasting, shuttle services are available from central spots in the 5 towns over the weekend.
Paid shuttles may be pre-booked from the website from September. There is limited parking available so it is recommended that you save on petrol and reduce your carbon footprint by car-pooling together with family and friends.
Java MTB Challenge
Have a trail and MTB adventure in the heart of the Winelands at the Java MTB Challenge, taking place on 12 October at Van Loveren Family Vineyards. Routes range from non-technical fun rides to gruelling routes for top riders only. Scenic 15km and 10km Trails will cater for the adventure-loving runner. Live music will be on offer and all participants will receive medals & goodie-bags.
