The South African International Tattoo Convention is a 3-day event, from 27-29 March 2020, that hosts 100 of the world’s best tattooers from over 17 countries at the beautiful The Lookout at the V&A Waterfront. Giving you the chance to get tattooed by expert local and international artists (specialising in a large variety of tattoo styles) right here in Cape Town, South Africa.

The Heart of the Tattoo Convention

The convention is a heartfelt tattooer-owned and family operated event. Each year they consider it a great honour to gather such an amazing group of artists under one roof to share a bit of our beautiful city with them.

An Outing for the Family

The show is family-friendly and allows free entrance to children under 12. Over the tattoo convention weekend, there will be live bands, a beer tent, deck bar, food trucks and an outdoor goods market for the whole family to enjoy.

Convention Weekend Times

The event runs from:

  • 17h00-23h00 on Friday
  • 11h00-23h00 on Saturday
  • 11h00-21h00 on Sunday

With bands playing on stage daily between 18h00-23h00 and at 15h00 on Sunday.

All over the world, it is customary to visit a tattoo convention to take the opportunity to get a tattoo from a travelling tattooer whom you may not get to meet otherwise. So if you’ve been following along and you’ve been thinking about visiting the show – it’s really simple.

Just get your butt to the tattoo convention, grab a ticket at the door, meet and greet the massive selection of tattoo artists (from over 17 countries), check out their work, choose something you like and get tattooed!

If you want to be a little more cautious you can pre-book a tattoo by contacting your artist of choice directly via their website’s artist page, Instagram or email. The best time to do so is from about a month pre-event.
