Seaside views aren’t the first feature that come to mind when picking restaurants with fireplaces, but Bilboa’s beautifully decorated interiors, nifty fireplace and seafood menu will make you think twice. Aubergine’s intimate setting and homely hearth makes it the perfect spot for a romantic dinner. Kloof Street House is one of those dreamy restaurants that you can visit for any occasion. The simple, French-inspired menu will have something for everyone. The Company’s Garden Restaurant
Since it’s winter you may not immediately think of visiting Company Gardens, given its outdoorsy setting. But, you would be sorely mistaken, this is an unexpectedly lovely place to visit when the weather is cold. Cosy blankets and their fireplace will keep you toasty, as well as plenty of yummy menu options and coffee by Deluxe.
Of course, coffee should not be enjoyed without a slice, so try their carrot cake or baked cheesecake. If you are up for a brisk walk, make sure you purchase some peanuts from a vendor nearby and ensure the garden squirrels have enough stores for winter!

Fans who have followed this long-time pop-up restaurant around the country are licking their lips at the return of Farro – this time for good. Husband and wife duo, Alex and Eloise Windebank, bring their mix of comfort classics to the Overberg, now calling Gabriëlskloof wine farm ‘home’. The pair are renowned for their seasonal-inspired menu of small plates, cued by bold global flavours. Their current offering is all about wintery goodness, with dishes like Crispy Lamb Shoulder Scrumpet, Truffled Cappelletti, and Pumpkin and Parmesan. Along with their fireplace, the full package is pretty spectacular.
