Recipes From the Miele Kitchen

Even if you don’t care for Valentine’s Day, it’s always nice to have a reason to sip on something bubbly. The French 75 is an iconic cocktail, but we’ve reworked this one slightly to make it a little more romantic. It takes almost no time to prepare and is a great recipe to know off by heart.

Serves: 2
Difficulty: easy
Preparation time: 5 minutes

½ C (125 ml) pink gin
¼ C (60 ml) freshly squeezed grapefruit juice
4 tsp (60 ml) sugar
champagne or sparkling wine, to top up

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake the gin, grapefruit juice and sugar in the shaker until well chilled, about 15 seconds. Strain into a Champagne coupe.

Top up with Champagne or sparkling wine.

Jess Spiro

Jessica has a love for food. She also has a love for writing. After spending three years at a Cordon Bleu cookery school she decided to spread her wings and check out London’s food scene. There she wrote for a popular online magazine by night, and cooked at the famous Books for Cooks by day. Three years passed, however the pull of home was too strong to bear. So here she is, ready to take Cape Town down, one bite at a time.
