Jack Black heroes Greenpop as the ‘Pint For A Purpose’ for the months of April & May
Greenpop is on a mission to “plant trees, green communities and empower environmental stewards across Sub-Saharan Africa.” Based in Cape Town, Greenpop works to restore ecosystems through forest restoration, urban greening, food gardening, and environmental awareness projects. Founded in 2010, Greenpop has since planted over 200 000 trees. They’re doing truly incredible work that merits support, which is exactly why Jack Black is heroing this deserving NGO as their ‘Pint for a Purpose’ this April and May.
Greenpop – Restoring the environment, one tree at a time
Since 2011, Greenpop’s biggest tree-planting event of the year has always been the Reforest Fest. This year, the Greenpop Reforest Festival took place from the 7th to the 10th of April, at Bodhi Khaya Nature Retreat. It was an epic festival with planting trees, camping under the stars, eating delicious food, and enjoying live music by local artists.
By enabling attendees to plant between 5000 and 10 000 indigenous trees each year, this event makes a meaningful impact on Greenpop’s Uilenkraal Forest Restoration Project, which aims to restore degraded forest patches at the Platbos Forest Reserve and Bodhi Khaya Nature Retreat.

So far, the project has facilitated the planting of 105 645 trees in total, restoring forest habitat, and helping to preserve and expand a forest that is home to many incredible, often endangered, species including the Cape leopard and honey badger.
