Indulge at Benguela on Main this Winter

Winter means searching for places with a warm and cosy atmosphere and roaring fire, to brave the cold. Benguela on Main, in Somerset West is the ultimate fine dining restaurant headed up by Executive Chef, Jean Delport, and offers just that. The Taster, located upstairs from the restaurant, is an experience on its own and has been created as a home base for Benguela Cove wines from Benguela Cove Lagoon Wine Estate in Walker Bay, Hermanus.

 The setting of The Taster has been designed for guests to come and relax in an elegant and sophisticated venue, while sipping on South Africa’s premier wines.  The Gluhwein, fondue and open fire combo at The Taster is a great way to warm up. With a hot cheesy fondue and French bread for dipping, it’s paired with Gluhwein at R240 for two people. It includes two glasses of Gluhwein, a cheese fondue, French bread and crudités, and is available until 31 August 2016.

 Live jazz and wine evenings every Wednesday and Thursday from 17:00 to 19:00 is a new midweek instalment at The Taster. Featuring the sweet sounds of Guy Feldman, whisking people away in a trance of relaxation after a hard day at work. Also on offer is a buy one, get one free special. If you buy a carafe of Benguela Cove wine of your choice, you’ll receive another one free. 

 Executive Chef Jean Delport is always hard at work creating new dishes and flavours that incorporate great attention to detail, and the winter menu created for the cold months, is no exception. Until the end of August 2016, Benguela on Main is running a winter midweek two and three course set menu special from Tuesday to Friday. The two course is paired with one glass of wine at R240 per person, while the three course is paired with two glasses of wine at R310 per person, available during lunch and dinner.

 During the week on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, diners who experience the phenomenal chef’s tasting menu, which includes six courses, will receive a complimentary bottle of Benguela Cove wine for two people, to take home. The decadent dishes can be paired with South African premium wine for R850 per person or without wine for R600 per person. However, because this is a unique intimate experience, the chef’s tasting menu is not suitable for parties over 8 people. This offer is valid until the end of October 2016.
