Three top Franschhoek chefs are putting on their superhero aprons in aid of the region’s most vulnerable children at a fabulous StreetSmart fundraiser luncheon on Monday, 7 May 2018, where people can come together and celebrate food, social integration, and StreetSmarts incredible initiative.

Chefs Chris Erasmus, Darren Badenhorst and Neil Jewel will be joining forces for this not-to-be-missed 3-course fund-raiser at Foliage Restaurant in Franschhoek – and the event looks exceptionally appetising!

Who is StreetSmart?

StreetSmart SA is a non-profit organisation dedicated to the social integration and upliftment of street children, a commendable organisation changing the lives of many in the area. StreetSmart plans to utilise the proceeds from the event in support of affiliated NGO’s working with children in Franschhoek.

The Chefs behind the Franschhoek StreetSmart Fundraiser

Chef-proprietor of Foliage, Chris Erasmus, enjoys wide acclaim for his unique cooking style from home-grown vegetables and foraged wild ingredients. Born and bred in the Karoo, Chris learned the tricks of the trade through his mother and grandmother who placed heavy importance on homegrown food. His restaurant serves some of the most interesting wild fare with an ever-changing menu according to what comes into the kitchen.

Darren Badenhorst, chef de cuisine and owner of Le Coin Français, creates “art on a plate” that leads guests through a unique culinary exploration of flavours, textures and interactive creations inspired by nostalgic food memories.

Head chef at Bread & Wine on Môreson Farm for the past 18 years, Neil Jewel, is famous for his masterly crafted charcuterie and delicious, uncomplicated food.

The three chefs combined will ensure a spectacular experience.
