The Best Camps Bay Restaurants for Summer
With the weather warming up, it’s a matter of time before we all start spending our days at the beach and Camps Bay really is one of the best to take in the Cape Town sunshine. But, if you’re not the picnic on the beach kind (sand in your sandwich is never a good look) and need to know where to fill up or enjoy a sundowner, here’s our list of Camps Bay restaurants that you need to get to.
The Best Camps Bay Restaurants
Azure at The Twelve Apostles
Not technically in Camps Bay, but we’ll make the exception for this world-class restaurant. There is nowhere quite like Azure, the views alone will leave you breathless. Luckily, the food matches up to the impressive scenery. The menu allows you to choose between an a la carte or set tasting option, and you won’t go wrong with either choice. If you’re looking for something a little more low-key, you can enjoy drinks and a cheese platter out on the on the patio, overlooking the ocean.

La Belle Bistro and Bakery
La Belle Bistro and Bakery serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and is one of the few spots on the strip with a slightly more casual vibe. If you want to grab coffee and a croissant with a view, this is the spot. As the name suggests, they also have delicious pastries and cakes on offer (the salted caramel tart is to-die-for). You can also enjoy a lazy lunch or sundowners and dinner at this Camps Bay restaurant.

Maison J Café et Croissant
The cutest little café on the strip, Maison J is a collab between Jason Lilley of Jason Bakery, PnP and others. The pretty little window adorned with nifty blue packaging and an even niftier blue coffee machine serves up the most delish coffees and pastries this side of the mountain.

Tiger’s Milk
Tiger’s Milk has become synonymous with a chilled cool and laid-back vibe and the Camps Bay edition is no different. With million dollar views of the ocean, it’s the perfect spot for anything you have planned – be it a casual date, drinks with mates or a quick lunch. The menu is the same at all branches with delish burgers salads and pizzas, craft beers and wine. Definitely one of our favourite Camps Bay restaurants.

Mantra Café
A newish addition to the Melissa’s empire, Mantra Café is everything you’ve come to love and expect from a Melissa’s but with a world class view. The all-day menu ticks all the boxes with comforting and exciting dishes, like hearty burgers, substantial salads and great sharing plates and snacks.

Mynt Café
The concept of Mynt Café is to provide those visiting the lux strip with somewhere a little more casual. Somewhere that won’t break the bank and that you don’t have to be in your best Gucci attire to visit. They offer breakfast, lunch and dinner and the prices really are decent for the area.

Paranga
Paranga is something of an icon in Camps Bay and for good reason. The food is mostly seafood based and expertly prepared. If you’re looking to make the most of the view, book a spot on the terrace and watch the sunset as you tuck into your meal.

Rumbullion At The Roundhouse
The Roundhouse has always been known for turning out some incredible food, and the Rumbullion certainly doesn’t let the team down. Where The Roundhouse is quite refined and formal, The Rumbullion is relaxed. It’s the dreamiest spot for a date, where you can sprawl out onto the lawn and share a picnic basket of nibbles or a pizza.

Sunset Café
Owned by the slick team behind Mondiall, Sunset Café is making a name for itself on the highly competitive Camps Bay strip. It’s one of the best Camps Bay restaurants to grab a post-beach cocktail or somewhere to kickstart your night. The menu is made up of easy-to-share small plates so that you can work your way through tasting all the dishes. They also offer a cracking breakfast, if you’re one of the early risers.

The Bungalow
You can’t go wrong if you end up at The Bungalow. It’s almost infamous for its delivery of a good time. Stop in for drinks, but be sure to leave some space for the local seafood-inspired menu. Even when that pesky Cape Town wind picks up, you’ll be cared for and sheltered under awnings and covered with fluffy blankies. Their bed-like banquettes make this one of our favourite Camps Bay restaurants to kick back and chill at.

The 41
If you’re looking for somewhere to enjoy a hearty meal, look no further than The 41. The eclectic Euro-local inspired menu makes for the perfect accompaniment to a glass of something cold and refreshing. We’re especially partial to their burgers after a long day of lazing on the beach.

The Raj
If after a day sunning yourself at the beach you’re after a hearty curry and other north Indian cuisine, then head to The Raj. This Camps Bay restaurant is part of a group that started in Johannesburg and the winning formula has found a home on the strip (and is one of 13 branches). Expect spicy, aromatic and flavourful Indian cuisine.

If you love Japanese fusion food then head to Umi. The restaurant boasts amazing views over the Camps Bay strip from up above and the food is contemporary Japanese with tataki, teriyaki, tempura, sushi and more. Umi also has a seriously well-stocked Whiskey Bar where you can try some of the best whiskeys in the world.

Zenzero
Zenzero focuses on contemporary Italian food. The vibe is reminiscent of Monaco in the summer and it’s all about La Dolce Vita – the good life. The decor is slick, the food is modern and the service is impeccable.
