Looking for freshly baked goods and bistro style food? You’ll find both of these things at la Belle Bistro and Bakery, of which there are two locations in Cape Town – Camps Bay and Constantia.

la Belle Camps Bay

The Camps Bay café is situated along the platinum mile; being elevated it offers amazing ocean views and allows for a peaceful place to enjoy a morning cuppa, along with a freshly baked croissant. The interior is comfy with light wood panelling, leather banquettes and a deli counter bursting with colourful treats and sweet goods. If you stay at The Marly Boutique Hotel & Spa, (also part of the Kove Collection group), this is where you’ll enjoy breakfast. It has sunny outdoor seating plus an enclosed frontage that keeps the warmth in on a cooler winter’s day.

la Belle Constantia

The Constantia restaurant is located at The Alphen Boutique Hotel; it too has an outdoor seating area that receives plenty of sunshine and overlooks the greens of the hotel. In winter, the indoor section is cosily warmed by a beautiful fireplace.

Brekkie

If you’re stopping in for breakfast we highly recommend the Avocado Toast, which is one of our favourites. The la Belle Breakfast is also a treat, fresh farm eggs and the works to go with that (bacon, beef sausage, mushrooms, tomato etc). Maybe a Smoked Salmon Bagel or a Cheese Omlette grabs your fancy? There are plenty of options to choose from. If you’re on the hunt for something healthier, enjoy their Brûléed Grapefruit or House Granola with fruit.

There’s also a selection of freshly baked pastries made by the team on-site and headed up by chef Ludwig van Tonder and they are absolutely sublime.

Lunch

The great thing about La Belle Bistro and Bakery is that it seamlessly moves from its breakfast offerings to serving lunch, and then on to dinner as well; being open from 07h00-23h00 (Constantia) and 08h00-23h00 (Camps Bay) both branches are all-day places to pop into.

Lunch consists of salads, sandwiches, burgers and bigger main meals. Enjoy Crispy Coated & Fried Halloumi to start, followed by a hearty Chicken Pot Pie. If you prefer something lighter, there are salads and plenty of light bites like classic Quiche Lorraine to choose from.

If you have a sweet tooth be sure to end your meal off with one of the sweet treats on offer, it’ll be hard to pick from the desserts or the baked good counter though. If your tummy is full but your eyes aren’t playing ball, we highly recommend taking something home for later – the baked goods are truly exceptional. Standouts (and there are many) are the Hazelnut & Dulce de Leche, the New York Baked Cheesecake and the Carrot & Pinapple Cake. All too good to pass up!

la Belle Bistro and Bakery is one of those unique places that can be perfect for breakfast, lunch or dinner, or even just for a good cup of coffee and a slice of cake. It ticks all the boxes on all fronts.
