Maison J Camps Bay, Café et Croissants and Views for Days

Words: Julie Velosa

If you’re a fan of Jason Bakery and early mornings by the beach, then you’ll love the cutest café on the Camps Bay strip – Maison J.

Find Maison J Camps Bay

The tiny café window is located right next to Pick ‘n Pay on Victoria Road and for those that want to miss the crowds, they open at 6:45 a.m. You can take your pooch or tiny human for a walk, grab your favourite cuppa and a croissant and enjoy a stroll along the Platinum Mile before the madness ensues.

All Things Blue and Beautiful

We’re totally enamoured by the pretty blue branding, a departure from Jason’s usual dark persona. Your tasty takeaway brekkie bagel comes wrapped in beautiful branded packaging sealed with a J, inside a pretty blue box. You simply must try the Peanut Butter and Jelly croissant, it will change your life, or if you’re after something savoury there’s Cream Cheese and Lox and other bagel choices, quiches or cheesy croissants.

Sunny Side Up

There are a few tables (like 6) outside the café window, which you can nab if you’re lucky. Alternatively, take your goods to go and pop over the road to the beach. The café is in the shade first thing in the morning and being so close to the sea means it does get quite chilly, so take something with sleeves. The sun will hit the sand first and this is a great spot to get some rays.

Local Yocel

The friendly team have a lot of time for their locals so get to know them and they’ll have your order up in no time. Camps Bay in the early morning before the crowds descend with a PBJ croissant in one hand and a freshly brewed coffee in the other – I can’t think of a better way to start a holiday morning in the Mother City.
