Tamsin Snyman, The World’s 50 Best Restaurants Academy Chair for South and East Africa, says “Team La Colombe have worked incredibly hard to be on this hugely important list. I am not surprised at their ranking; it is long overdue, and they now shine a spotlight not only on their genius talent, but also on our far-flung region. This will encourage more people to visit South Africa, so we can showcase our culinary talents across the board and reassure everyone that we are a world-class dining destination”

These awards reflect and celebrate the richness and diversity of the world’s culinary landscape, and, mark the latest in La Colombe’s continued pursuit of international culinary excellence and collaboration. Gaag recently completed his month-long residency as the featured chef at Restaurant Ikarus at Red Bull’s Hangar 7 in Austria, as well as spearheading a series of ‘Four Hands Collaboration Dinners’ with British Michelin-starred chef, Adam Handling MBE.

Chef Proprietor, Scot Kirton, comments: “It’s a great honour to have La Colombe recognised among the world’s best restaurants. Year after year this team makes me so incredibly proud – congratulations to James, Aaron and the entire team that keeps driving the restaurant to new heights. These awards mean so much to everyone involved, and it’s great to see all the hard work over the years being recognised on a global scale .”
