The Cellars-Hohenort Presents ‘Tastes of Our Valleys’ – A Celebration of Three Wine Regions

The Cellars Hohenort Tastes of Our Valleys

The Cellars-Hohenort Hotel & Spa welcomes wine lovers to its historic Constantia estate for Tastes of Our Valleys on Saturday, 14 November 2026, with an expanded celebration of South African wine that brings together ten producers from three of the country’s renowned wine regions.

Tickets are R495 and include a tasting glass, a selection of wines from participating estates and seasonal bites.

Following the success of the inaugural Tastes of the Valley event in 2025, this year’s celebration broadens its horizons beyond the Constantia Valley to showcase the character and diversity of three distinctive wine regions, which all hold a particular significance for The Liz McGrath Collection. The Cellars-Hohenort is rooted in the historic Constantia Valley, while The Marine in Hermanus provides a gateway to the cool maritime slopes of the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley and The Plettenberg sits within the landscape of the Garden Route and the coastal terroir of Plettenberg Bay.

Set within the beautiful surroundings of The Cellars-Hohenort gardens, Tastes of Our Valleys therefore brings together not only three wine regions, but three destinations that form part of the Collection’s broader South African story.

The Constantia Valley will be represented by Eagles’ Nest, Constantia Glen, Groot Constantia, Steenberg, Buitenverwachting and Beau Constantia, bringing together some of the Valley’s most celebrated producers. From Constantia’s long winemaking heritage to its modern expressions of Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Bordeaux varieties and other cultivars, the region continues to demonstrate the diversity and quality of wine produced on the slopes surrounding Cape Town.

The cool-climate Hemel-en-Aarde Valley will be represented by Ataraxia and Creation, two estates renowned for wines that reflect the Valley’s distinctive maritime climate and terroir. Located near Hermanus, the region is particularly celebrated for its expressive Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, with the influence of the nearby Atlantic Ocean contributing to wines of freshness, elegance and complexity.

From the Southern Cape, Plettenberg Bay will bring a taste of its emerging wine culture, with Newstead and Kay & Monty representing the region. Situated close to the Indian Ocean, the Plettenberg Bay wine region is defined by its coastal influence and cool maritime conditions, offering a distinctive perspective on South African wine and adding another dimension to this year’s tasting.

The tastings will be complemented by a selection of fresh seasonal bites prepared by the chefs of The Conservatory restaurant. Designed to complement the wines, the food offering will showcase the produce and flavours of the season, with carefully considered pairings creating a relaxed culinary journey alongside the wine tasting.

Guests will be invited to sip, taste and explore at their own pace, moving between participating estates and discovering the distinctive personalities of each wine region. The experience is designed as an elegant garden gathering that celebrates the Cape’s wine culture while offering an opportunity to meet the people and stories behind some of its most exciting estates.
