#IsItJAZZTime? Yes – With These Tasty JAZZ™ Apple Recipes

Words: Crush

JAZZ ApplesMother Nature prepares all year long for harvest time so that we can enjoy the fruits of her labour. This special occasion only comes around once a year at the start of winter, and if the conditions are just right, this concerted effort brings forth delicious JAZZ™ Apples.

#IsItJAZZTime?

Sure, apples are available year-round, but the benefits of buying in-season apples are far greater than your tastebuds can imagine. JAZZ™ Apples offer a crisp, juicy bite combined with a tangy natural sweetness. Because seasonal produce is all about the right time and right place, we always get jazzed up in anticipation of apple season, and eagerly ask #IsItJAZZTime?

Recipes Using In-season JAZZ™ Apples

To show you just how versatile apples are and to celebrate the season, we’ve created four delectable recipes using only the best of the bunch.

JAZZ™ Apple Crumble

apple crumbleJAZZ ApplesWe all know that apples are perfectly delicious on their own, but they also make for one of the best baking ingredients. JAZZ™ Apples are bursting with juiciness and flavour. To take advantage of this, we’ve used them in the classic dessert that is the humble apple crumble.

Even though the apples are the main event in this dessert, the crumble provides the perfect texture for this divine treat.

We’ve created a short crumble pastry to top our apple filling and for extra texture and crunch, we’ve added pecan nuts. The nutty flavour combined with the cinnamon is absolutely delightful — you can thank us later.

To honour the classic flavours of this all-time-fave, we’ve served it with vanilla bean ice cream. The contrast of warm apple filling and cool ice cream is always a winner. Best served as a rainy Sunday treat with your nearest and dearest.

Creamy Cauliflower & White Bean Soup with Chorizo & Spiced JAZZ™ Apples

cauliflower apple soupJAZZ ApplesWinter is officially here, but we can’t be too upset about it now that it’s JAZZ™ time.

One of the best ways to be a better cook is through playing with textures and this recipe does just that. We’ve roasted the cauliflower and added chicken stock, garlic, fresh sage and thyme sprigs for extra flavour. For extra protein, we’ve added cannellini beans to the mix.

To get that desirable smooth texture and creamy taste — we’ve puréed our roasted cauliflower, along with our soup mix for one belly-warming bowl.

To garnish, we’ve gently sauteed JAZZ™ Apple chunks and spiced them with ginger, cinnamon and nutmeg to enhance the flavour – these bites of spiced apple add a delicate sweetness to the dish. Garnish with roasted cauliflower florets, smoky chorizo and finely diced chunks of fresh apple for mouthfuls of tasty textural delights. Yum!

Roasted Brussels Sprout & Pumpkin Salad with JAZZ™ Apple and a Mint Yoghurt Drizzle

JAZZ ApplesWhile soups and stews are what most people eat throughout winter, a hearty salad of roasted veg that’s full of texture can be equally satisfying. We’ve used some of our favourite seasonal winter produce to create this wholesome wintery salad of Brussel sprouts and pumpkin wedges, with the addition of fresh JAZZ™ Apple slices for crunch and sweetness.

One of the best things about roasting vegetables is the minimal effort required, simply pop on a tray, drizzle with oil and season and roast.

Vegetables taste even more delicious with the addition of a light char, it not only adds texture but enhances the natural sweetness of certain vegetables, especially pumpkin. Make sure to leave the skin on your pumpkin — yet another great source of fibre.

We’ve added peppery rocket as a base, creamy goat’s cheese and a herby, mint yoghurt dressing. For added texture, we’ve topped ours with almonds and pumpkin seeds, and of course, fresh JAZZ™ Apple slices, which beautifully balance all the savoury notes in this winter-inspired salad.

JAZZ™ Apple Compote Profiteroles with Whipped Cream and Caramel Sauce

profiterolesJAZZ ApplesTeatime is a great excuse to have afternoon dessert before dinner. After all, a sip of tea tastes that much sweeter with a delectable baked treat.

If you take your tea-time as seriously as we do, then you’ll love these poofy profiteroles.

They’re filled with cream and a delicious apple compote, spiced with cinnamon and ginger and topped with a velvety, buttery and decadent caramel sauce. Drizzle as much or as little sauce as you want — the more the better in our opinion.

Lastly, dust your profiteroles with icing sugar for the ultimate treat. They almost look too good to eat.
