Father’s Day at Cavalli Restaurant

Five years after opening to the public, Cavalli Estate in the Stellenbosch Winelands has evolved into a versatile lifestyle destination deftly combining food, wine and art. ‘Cavalli’ may be the Italian word for ‘horses’, but this stylish Winelands estate offers so much more than the world-class equestrian facilities that grace the long driveway leading into the 100-hectare estate. Cavalli’s remarkable restaurant will be hosting an enticing, pocket-friendly, 6-course Father’s Day lunch menu aimed to spoil your dad on his special day.

Father’s Day at Cavalli Estate

Head Chef Michael Deg has held the reins of the Cavalli kitchen since 2017, cementing the restaurant’s reputation for seasonal, produce-led cuisine. It’s refined food without the frills, Deg’s elegant presentation never resorting to smoke and mirrors. His is a considered style of cooking, borne of years working in high-end restaurants both at home and abroad.

Father's Day at Cavalli

On Father’s Day patrons can expect a first course of biltong tartare, served with sushi rice, pickled onions, smoked chilli aioli and oregano crisps.

For the second course guests can look forward to a choice of either a parsnip, truffle and honey velouté dish served with free range egg, mushroom ragout, crispy enoki and smoked crème fraiche or a tuna tataki dish served with a ponzu dressing, pickled daikon, miso aioli, sweet potato crisps, coriander and lime.

For the third course Michael is offering diners a choice between springbok loin, served with fermented garlic pommes mousseline, textures of celery and lovage jus or pan-fried hake, served with mussels in a coconut, lime and chilli broth and bok choy or cauliflower and chive risotto, served with pickled shaved stem, Parmesan and sage. For dessert, coffee and petite fours are the perfect ending to this dining experience.
