If you love farm food, you should not miss the Groot Plaasproe from Thursday 11 October to Saturday 13 October 2018 at Sandringham, outside Stellenbosch. Come experience a taste of all things farm at this unique festival by the organisers of the renowned SA Cheese Festival.

A variety of stalls will offer tasty farm food, selected wines, craft beer and more – you can expect an array of delicacies such as roosterkoek, game meat, skaapstertjies, Wagyu hamburgers and artisan ice cream. Yum! Try something new like Bok & Bier, a combination of tender goat meat and craft beer which is sure to tantalise your taste buds.

Put your braai skills to the test

Braai fans are invited to enter Die Braai Crew’s braaibroodjie and steak braai competitions with Spar retail vouchers up for grabs as prizes. Pre-entrance gives you a free ticket to the festival.

Educational AND fun

Discover the difference between alpacas and llamas, watch sheep dogs at work, and enter your pet rabbit into a show. Kids can ride ponies, visit a petting farm and feed miniature donkeys a carrot or two. Find out where the milk in the bottle comes from, see sheep shearers in action and learn how different animals’ wool is spun.

Live music, line-dancing and more at Groot Plaasproe

On Saturday 13 October, big and small can try out Boeresport; make stokbrood and participate in an ice-cream eating competition.

There will be live music by popular artists Die Broers and Wynand and Chereé, and line-dancing fun, with music by Die Wildberries.

Book your tickets

The festival takes place daily from 08h00 to 18h00. Tickets are available from Computicket and the gate at R100 for adults, and R30 for scholars (free on Thursday and Friday). Entrance is free for children under six years. Pensioners pay only R50 on Thursday and Friday.
