Ditto Foods – Cape Town’s First 100% Vegan Ice Cream Parlour
Oat milk is all the rage. It’s not only delicious, creamy and perfect in a cup of coffee, but it’s also one of the most environmentally friendly plant-based milks out there at the moment.
It was just a matter of time until one of our local oat milk brands branched out to ice cream and the first to make the move was Oh Oat, a Cape Town based oat milk company that specialises in the creamiest oat milk. To truly bring in the Cape Town summer, they’ve opened ditto foods, an oat milk ice cream parlour on Kloof Street.
SA’s First 100% Vegan Ice Cream Parlour
Vegan ice cream is no stranger to Cape Town, but ditto foods is the first ice cream parlour to exclusively serve vegan ice cream and offer an allergen-free, plant-based alternative for those looking to stay away from gluten, soy and lactose in their ice cream. Ditto’s ice cream tastes almost exactly like its dairy counterpart, some can’t even tell the difference.
Our goal from day one was to create something anyone would enjoy, whether they have a proclivity towards plant-based eating or not. Close to 300 ice-cream trials later, and we’ve developed a base which mimics dairy so closely that in a blind tasting, you can’t tell the difference.
They are working on a range of 40 flavours, served either in a cup or a delicious (freshly made!) waffle cone with a range of toppings that are included in the price. Our current favourite is a scoop of Gingery Snap with a wafer — we can’t wait to see what comes next.
