A well-kept secret amongst locals, this hidden cove between Camps Bay and Bakoven is the perfect spot for a secluded beach picnic, from the mountain and ocean views through to the crystal clear rock pools.

Cape Point Vineyards – Noordhoek

Deer Park – Vredehoek
Convenient for city dwellers, Deer Park lies at the base of Table Mountain, with plenty of forest for shade and sweeping views of the city. There are beautiful walks and mountain biking trails near the picnicking areas. We also love that they’re dog-friendly.

De Waal Park – Oranjezicht
This park is situated in Oranjezicht, and it is a great place for families and dog owners to hang out. It is known as a lovely social space where you can relax and listen to amazing live music. Green Point Park – Green Point
This dazzling biodiversity park is a popular spot for families – kids and adults will love the lush lawns, impressive play areas and beautiful surroundings. It’s a great place to have family picnics – you can set up camp in a shady area or the sunshine; there are tables in certain areas of the park. If you want refreshments, be sure to visit the lovely tearoom onsite – Tea in the Park.

Keurboom Park – Rondebosch
Keurboom park is a magnificent greenbelt that is looked after and maintained by the Keurboom Park Association. Part of the park’s mission is to provide an environment to protect Keurboom trees – you will see several of them at the park. It’s a great place to walk your dog, just be sure to keep them on a leash.

Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens – Constantia
Easily one of the most beautiful picnic spots in Cape Town. Kirstenbosch Gardens is a lovely place to relax, take a leisurely stroll along the tree-lined canopy and enjoy what nature has to offer. It’s also a great spot for kids, as they can run around the gigantic garden and learn about the plants all over Kirstenbosch. If you’re spending the day there, take your own basket filled with treats, or visit their Tea Room and curate your own goodie basket – just be sure to responsibly dispose of litter.

The Company’s Gardens – CBD
The Company’s Garden almost needs no introduction. It’s the oldest garden in South Africa, having been established in 1652. Tokai Forest – Tokai
Famed braai and picnic spot, Tokai Forest, is located deep in the leafy green nature of the southern suburbs. It’s famous for its hiking and biking trails; it’s also a great place to have a picnic with your mates.

Silvermine Nature Reserve – Ou Kaapse Weg
Part of the Table Mountain National Park, Silvermine Nature Reserve, has extensive trails and a large water reservoir with allocated picnic areas, which are easily accessible from the entrance on Ou Kaapse Weg. Perfect for scenic walks along the lake and serene picnic dates.
