Tulbagh
2014
Though equal in quality and guided by the same philosophy of fruit-driven elegance, Provenance wines represent a major departure in style from their Saronsberg counterparts. Reflective of the inherent qualities of their unique origin, these lighter wines, with their finer fruit characters, reflect the true potential of Saronsberg. In fact, the 2012 Provenance Shiraz has just achieved a gold medal at the Michelangelo International awards, adding to the numerous other awards already achieved. In 1969, the largest earthquake ever recorded in SA history hit the small town of Tulbagh and caused large scale devastation, hence the name for this wine. One could also compare the feeling in one’s mouth on tasting this wine to an earthquake. This blend of Chenin Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc has pleasant tropical fruit flavours, perfectly balanced with crisp acidity, yet it has a subtle complexity. This is a perfect choice for a picnic wine for the summer – you will love it from the very first sip.
