New Release 2013 Spice Route Chakalaka
Spice Route takes pride in announcing the release of its seventh vintage of Chakalaka – a wine that encompasses the signature style of the Swartland through its patchwork of soils found on Klein Amoskuil farm – home to the Spice Route Winery.
This unique combination of red varieties presents an eclectic mix of flavours which express place before grape, a characteristic shared with the spice blend from which Chakalaka takes its name.
With its roots entrenched in Zulu culture, the name Chakalaka suggests togetherness. The truly South African blend of spices has for generations added flavour to local dishes such as pap, stews and curries.
Spice Route’s passion for craftsmanship and provenance is joined by many who wish to add authenticity to our lives. Kindred spirits like a spice maker, blending the Cape’s finest spices to produce a dry Chakalaka grind; And a cocoa bean roaster and chocolate maker, conching a precise blend of African beans to produce a fine dark chocolate which pairs perfectly with the wine.
Spice Route Chakalaka 2013 is available at the Spice Route Tasting Room, Yuppiechef.com and selected specialist outlets. The recommended retail price is R150.
