Leeu Collection is fast becoming a name synonymous with luxury and elegance, and their latest offering of afternoon tea at Leeu Estates reinforces this fact.
The New Conservatory at Leeu Estates
A new conservatory has been built over the deck at the beautiful Leeu Estates property in Franschhoek and the enclosed glass space is perfect for a leisurely tea experience. The conservatory overlooks the impressive garden and some of the artwork collection – it really is a gorgeous view to take in.
Afternoon Tea at Leeu Estates
Afternoon tea is served on two 3-tiered cake stands with a mix of delightful sweets and savouries. In total it’s quite a lot of food and everything is yummy, so make sure you skip lunch and go with a tea-and-treats-loving friend.
The spread is a lovely mix of goodies, from a chocolate cherry bonbon (a beautiful filled chocolate) to a delightfully textured pistachio dacquoise with a creamy white chocolate icing. The savouries include a really yummy sliver of rare roast beef served on a wafer, with mustard mayo and a crispy mini onion ring. Smashed avo and feta on seed bread and a smoked salmon bite with crème fraîche and pickled cucumber are the two other tasty savouries.
The Pièce de Résistance
There are both plain and apricot scones served with berry compote and clotted cream. Almond cakes with a beautiful chocolate glaze are topped with delicate chocolate work decoration and a granadilla meringue provides delicious tartness. But the pièce de résistance for us had to be the textbook perfect macarons. Pineapple and coconut macarons tasted of a wonderful tropical island getaway, the texture was perfect and they just melted in the mouth. Heaven! (Note: cakes and treats will change with seasonality).
