Celebrate Garden Day At The Cellars-Hohenort 16-17 October
In celebration of Garden Day, The Cellars-Hohenort in Constantia (Cape Town) is opening its magnificent gardens to members of the public on the weekend of 16 and 17 October 2021. All proceeds are in aid of the hotels chosen charity, St Luke’s Hospice, which provides palliative care to more than 650 patients daily, as well as support to their families.
Spring has sprung in the Cape and flowers are in full bloom, providing the opportunity for those with green fingers and an interest in gardens, to down their own garden tools, relax and enjoy the warm hospitality of The Liz McGrath Collection.

Testament to a rich history, trees in the surrounding forest of the gardens at The Cellars-Hohenort date back 300 years to when it was known as Klaasenbosch Farm. The garden spreads across nine acres and boasts magnificent views of the Table Mountain range. It contains myriad of delights, from the Picnic Garden and Hohenort Lawns which are favourite wedding venues, to a structured garden with a beautiful water feature, and several ponds.
The Formal Rose Garden includes the Liz McGrath Rose, which was hybridised in 2003 to commemorate the late Mrs McGrath’s 80th birthday.
Other eco-zones within the gardens include the Herb, Vegetable and Citrus Gardens which grow fresh produce for the hotel kitchens. 950 vines are watered by Mother Nature and produce approximately 500 bottles of The Cellars Hohenort dessert wine, Vin de Hohenort, each year.
Don’t miss out – R100 per person (free for children under 2 and R50 for children up to the age of 10) including a guided garden tour, as well as a cup of tea and a scone to be enjoyed on the terrace or Hohenort lawns.
