Winter Just Got Better with The Dark Horse’s Events Line-Up

When winter comes to Cape Town, with rainy days and early sunsets, it’s way too easy to swap the high life for hibernation and socialising for couch surfing. But the team at The Dark Horse is having none of it.

This year, they’re saving Cape Town from the winter blues and turning up the heat with live music, major sports events and epic quiz nights, all in the cosy setting of Kloof Street’s favourite cocktail spot.

Watch the FIFA World Cup at The Dark Horse

A first for the bar, The Dark Horse presents Half-Time at The Horse, an exciting new fan experience dedicated to the global showpiece of the Beautiful Game.

But don’t expect your average sports bar experience: Half-Time at The Horse is tailored for those afficionados who know and love their football and want to watch it with friends, but who also want the style and great quality food and cocktails they’ve come to expect from The Dark Horse. And to up the ante, The Dark Horse crew has been cooking up team-themed drinks and snacks for each game they air. No booking required.

Dark Notes – tiny concerts at The Dark Horse

Last year, The Dark Horse transformed into Cape Town’s coolest and most intimate live music venue as it debuted its Dark Notes Tiny Concerts series, hosting the likes of Frank Freeman, Laudo Liebenberg (aKING), Arno Carstens (Springbok Nude Girls), Derek Gripper and Jabulile Majola.

This year, the Tiny Concerts are back, serving up a new curated line-up of the best local talent in the Dark Horse’s cosy, intimate, retro-cool setting.

Ticket prices are set at R250 per show, and if you’d prefer dinner before the music starts, The Dark Horse’s sister restaurant The Black Sheep is offering a pre-show, two-course meal for only R200 more.

Quiz teams, assemble!

What do you get when you mix good friends, great cocktails and ropey general knowledge? The new monthly Dark Horse pub quiz!

Bring your team of brainiacs (plus that one person who knows nothing except the winning answer) and try to remember the capital of Vanuatu as you snack on small plates imbued with the same quality gastropub bistro philosophy our sister restaurant The Black Sheep is known for, all while sipping on some of the best classic cocktails and local beers on tap. (It’s Port Vila, by the way – the capital of Vanuatu. In case it comes up…).

All upcoming events will be listed on The Dark Horse’s Instagram page so check them out on Instagram to stay tuned.
