Founded by Amapiano producer/DJ, Nwabisa Disemba Jama AKA ‘CA MA GU’, and Zolani Jama, music executive and events organiser – Populace Market is set to launch early December. Together, the creative couple aim to bring a new-found community of chefs, artists and supporters alike to the buzzing township.

Ultimately, the market will be a bridge between different markets and entertainment, while positively impacting the township’s economy.

Populace Market will feature an eclectic mix of designer retail stalls, food vendors, drink options, as well as fresh produce at the goods market. Music lovers can gather at the entertainment stage for live sets, while health enthusiasts will appreciate the ‘wellness zone’. In addition to the permanent vendors, there will also be a diverse weekend market.

With the authentic township feel and a globally inspired food offering, Populace Market promises an enthralling experience for all tastes. Traders like Manga Sushi, Kubu African, Sha Sha Warma, The Mussel Monger, Argies Argentinian Grill, Hokey Poke, What The Fish, Krockette, and San-Julian Mexican have already been called to sign up for stalls.

When? Operations will start from 2 December 2023. The market will be open to the public on Saturdays and Sundays.

Time? Retailers will trade from 09h00 until 20h00. Food vendors will be serving delicious meals until 21h00, and the bars will stay open until 23h00.
