Laurens Campher

With this wine we wish to celebrate the humble life of a young winemaker, who left this world at a very young age. Francois Conradie was the winemaker at Muratie, until early this year when he lost his fight against cancer. He left behind a legacy of great wines, which he crafted patiently over the years. One such wine is Laurens Campher, which was his brainchild for this farm.

The wine is made from meticulously sourced grapes, from different sites and slopes. It is a blend of 46% Chenin Blanc, 25% Sauvignon Blanc, 19% Verdelho and 10% Viognier. A quarter of the wine was fermented and matured in once-used barrels and the rest in older French barrels. The result is an off-dry wine, with fresh lemon and lime notes and fragrant floral hints. It is elegant and complex, with flavours of honeysuckle, marmalade and almonds on the palate. This wine is best enjoyed with creamy chicken, or aromatic spicy dishes, like a good Malay curry.
