Cellar Selection Pinotage

Freedom-Hill-wine-Pinotage

The maturation cellar on the slope of the Wemmershoek mountain overlooks the legendary Victor Verster prison, where late Nelson Mandela took his first steps to freedom.

This man touched every person in South Africa’s life in some way and brought the world to silence and mourning, when he said his final goodbyes, at the end of 2013.

A legendary person in Pinotage circles, Francois Naudé, who put L’Avenir on the map for Pinotage, initially helped winemaker Kowie Du Toit craft this velvety Pinotage. Now Kowie is flying solo in the cellar and continuing to produce wines of outstanding quality.

In the Klomp family, it’s not just the men who are important, as their daughter Chanine, has now joined the team as CEO, taking the farm into the next generation.

On the nose: the ripe plum and sweet cherry aromas are complimented by whiffs of spice. The soft tannins and complex ripe fruit flavours ensure a wine with perfect balance and a long finish. It begs to be enjoyed with great friends at any occasion.
