La Motte Releases the 2020 Vintage of its Acclaimed Chardonnay
Just in time for the festive season, La Motte is releasing the 2020 vintage of its acclaimed Chardonnay – one of the most versatile white wines for summer celebrations and special occasions.
Making 2020 La Motte Chardonnay
Made exclusively from grapes grown on the estate, the 2020 La Motte Chardonnay stays true to the classic style it is renowned for. The vineyards have a natural low yield and grapes were hand-picked at different dates to ensure complexity and interest. Initial fermentation took place in the tank after which two thirds of the wine continued fermentation as well as Malolactic fermentation in 300-litre French oak barrels.
The wine was also matured in French oak barrels (20% new oak) for 12 months. 6 600 cases of 6 x 750 ml were bottled on the estate during June 2021.
A Taste of Summer
With beautiful fruity nectarine and refreshing citrus blossom on the nose, the elegant character of this Chardonnay has a subtle richness and oak-derived flavours of cashew and freshly baked bread. The palate is polished with a delicious follow-through, a lively length and a refreshing finish.
With ample freshness for summer, the 2020 La Motte Chardonnay’s beautiful balance and complexity also ensure it to be an exceptional partner on the dinner table.
Its velvety undertones and elegant character make it the ultimate choice with seafood – from luxurious caviar, crayfish and pâté to the simplicity of mussels.
