This Heritage Day, Palm Terrace and Palm House Boutique Hotel & Spa will unveil a new outdoor space on its garden lawn, extending the restaurant and Bar1920 into the gardens and creating a relaxed setting for dining, celebrations, events and special occasions.

The launch will be celebrated with a Heritage Day Fire Feast.

At the heart of the new space is an open kitchen, bringing chefs and guests closer together as food is prepared over fire, with the team cooking in full view and creating an interactive dining experience. The launch will be celebrated with a Heritage Day Fire Feast at R895 per person.

Each course is a celebration of fire and heritage, tracing its ingredients back to the farms, oceans and communities that produced them. The Heritage Day Fire Feast brings together some of South Africa’s most distinctive ingredients and producers, from ABALOBI line-caught bream and East Coast rock lobster rolls and Glen Oaks grass-fed ribeye, before moving into a celebration of seasonal vegetables sourced from community farmers in Masiphumelele and Phillippi. The feast finishes with a distinctly South African sweet note: Kamado-baked malva pudding with burnt honey and naartjie custard.

A glass of Palm House wine or cider is included on arrival, with the open kitchen bringing guests into the action as the chefs cook over fire, smoke and coals throughout the experience.

Palm Terrace is the social heart of Palm House – a relaxed yet sophisticated restaurant made for lingering and sharing good food. The menu celebrates local growers, farmers and producers, bringing familiar favourites and regional flavours to the table in food that is approachable, generous and full of variety. The new outdoor space extends the spirit of Palm Terrace and Bar1920 onto the lawn, creating a more informal setting for long lunches, drinks, live cooking, celebrations and special occasions.

Surrounded by the gardens of the heritage property, it brings together the character of Palm House with the easy-going atmosphere of an outdoor gathering place – a space designed to evolve with the occasion.

At Palm House Boutique Hotel & Spa, the invitation is simple: you could be here. Here to linger over a beautiful meal, retreat to the gardens, settle into a quiet afternoon at the spa, or simply enjoy the feeling of being somewhere that feels a little removed from the everyday.
