The Kraken Black Spiced Rum

With a name like ‘The Kraken’, you would almost expect to get Captain Jack Sparrow free with each bottle.

This dark, mythical liquid is the first black rum to be imported from the Caribbean to hit the shores of South Africa has been distilled from molasses made from the local cane sugar and blended with over 11 secret spices including cinnamon, ginger and clove.

The fascinating name comes from the fabled sea beast, the kraken, which is said to have inflicted mayhem on ships and rum-running vessels throughout history and dragged the fearful sea men to their death. The rum was named The Kraken Black Spiced Rum because it is as dark, strong and mysterious as the ink of the sea beast – we hope this doesn’t scare you off!

It can be enjoyed straight as a sipping rum or it can be a key ingredient in any rum based cocktail.
