Introducing Whitley Neill’s New Blackberry Gin

Words: Crush

Whitley Neill Gin, which is currently made right here in South Africa, is crafted from a range of African inspired botanicals prior to being distilled in a traditional copper pot still. Only the purest water is used and each of the nine botanicals is carefully selected to ensure that they are of the highest quality.

Bringing together a mix of innovative botanicals like Cape gooseberries and baobab fruit to its line-up, it is also distilled with several more traditional botanicals such as juniper, coriander, lemon and orange peel, angelica root, cassia bark and orris root.

Whitley Neill’s Blackberry Gin

Whitley Neill Gin has recently launched its internationally popular, English-inspired blackberry variant locally. This vibrant, internationally award-winning gin is inspired by English hedgerows that are laden with fresh blackberries in late summer and pays homage to the childhood memories of Whitley Neill Gin founder Johnny Neill.

It’s all in the Berries

It boasts tastes of fresh plump berries and floral hedgerow; the flavour is distinctively smooth with a core of delicious piney juniper, followed by zesty sweet citrus and subtle hints of black pepper. This particular Whitley Neill Gin variant has also won silver at this year’s San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

It’s the perfect addition to any summer inspired gin cocktail and mixes well with any premium Indian tonic water, as well as lemonade and dry lemon. Try it as a simple gin and tonic served over ice and mixed with either Hall & Bramley purple or blue tonic, garnish with fresh blackberries and a slice of lemon. Or try a more sophisticated “Berry Royale” by mixing 20 ml of this gin, 10 ml lemon juice, 5 ml hibiscus cordial and 100 ml prosecco.

Whitley Neill Gin is currently available at the majority of the stores of the leading liquor retailers and online on Takealot and several other prominent local liquor e-tailers. Enjoy Whitley Neill Gin responsibly. Not for persons under 18. (* The distillation process(es) may somewhat differ between Whitley Neil Gin variants).
