The Goatshed restaurant at Fairview Wine and Cheese Estate in Paarl is hosting another annual series of its famous winter evenings. After last year’s sold-out events, the hearty food-and-wine dinners are back by demand. From the beginning of June to the end of September 2017, the Goatshed – which is usually used as a venue, during the day- will be open on several selected evenings and will serve a three-course paired menu.

Co-owner of the country-style eatery, Shannon Riley, plays the host while the resident chef, SJ Nel, serves up well-loved Fairview classics. Where each dinner has its own theme, which draws inspiration from, a world of various cultures and tastes. Fairview is renowned for its award-winning selection of artisanal cheeses as well as its broad range of handcrafted, star-quality wines and these will once again, feature as a winter evening staple.

Underfloor heating, wood fires and soul warming wines will fight the cold Cape Town winter. Allowing guests to fully enjoy the exceptional quality of Fairview’s, fresh farm produce. In addition to cheese and wine, Fairview produces its own free-range lamb, beef and pork, farm butter, fresh artisanal loaves and pastries, which are baked daily and also includes a range of olives, preserves, relishes, spreads and cordials, to accompany a dish.

Each winter evening comes with a different theme and presents dishes inspired by international destinations. As these evenings sell-out in advance, pre-booking is essential. The evenings take place on the following dates:

9 June: Italian Feast

23 June: Cape Malay Tribute

14 July: Fairview Free-range Lamb Shank & Shiraz

28 July: Greek Celebration

25 August: Fairview Free-range Lamb Shank & Shiraz

8 September: Italian Feast

29 September: Moroccan

Tickets are R395 per person and include a 3-course meal and wine. Each course is paired with award-winning Fairview wines.
