Eighty Ate Restaurant
Eighty Eight restaurant is located at the Cape Town Hollow Boutique Hotel.
The Cape Town Hollow Hotel is located in Queen Victoria Street, positioned across from the Iziko museum and Company Gardens it is the perfect base from which to explore the Mother City. In the heart of the busy CBD this road manages to somehow find a quiet calm, it is the ideal place to stay over or to just enjoy a meal. Eighty Ate Restaurant is located within the hotel and serves not only overnighting guests, but also welcomes anyone looking for a spot to dine in a relaxed environment.
The recently redone restaurant is kept fresh with light wood furniture and touches of South African style. With wall art and table decor of Protea and pincushion flora, it is a great platform for the food which is inspired with local flavours.
Sunette Kruger heads up the kitchen team and remarks “I love how food brings people together and makes them happy. If you use the finest ingredients and you cook with passion, you can’t go wrong. This is an ethos we implement in our kitchen.”
The menu, which changes seasonally, offers a range of options, such as balsamic-honey pulled pork sliders; lemon, chilli and ginger basted prawns; tapas platters and even a traditional moskonfyt bobotie phyllo pocket which should not be missed. The hot-pink rose terrine, which is topped with rose petals and candy floss, is one of the most popular items on the menu – it is subtly flavoured and a real delight!
A unique feature of the restaurant is that patrons can order any of the wines on the menu by the glass. The restaurant uses a La Verre du Vin system, which removes the oxygen from the bottle so that the remaining wine is preserved and there is no wastage. This is a great option for those who want to enjoy a glass of something special and is the ideal way to try more than one of the fabulous local wines available.
Eighty Ate is a great spot to enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner. The food is prepared with love by the kitchen and is served by friendly, knowledgeable staff. Stay over while on holiday or business in Cape Town, or just stop in for a meal, you won’t be disappointed.
A comfortable and quiet spot to enjoy a meal away from the hustle of the CBD.
