Durbanville Hills Encapsulates the Vibrancy of Cape Town

Words: Crush

Inspired by the vibrant city of Cape Town, the new Cape Portrait range from Durbanville Hills captures the sensory melting pot of the city and its people. Durbanville Hills, which overlooks Table Mountain, Table Bay and the cityscape, embraced these scenic views filled with the energy of Cape Town in creating this cool climate range of vibrant blended wines.

Proudly Capetonian

Red winemaker, Kobus Gerber, and white winemaker, Wilhelm Coetzee, say they are truly spoilt in being surrounded by some of the most spectacular views in the world. Wine of Origin Cape Town, the Cape Portrait wines reflect the unique sights, sounds and pulse of the city, as a tribute to everyone who calls Cape Town home, and everyone who has made memorable journeys here.

“Even though the city is ever-evolving, its culture and traditions are deeply rooted, handed down through generations. It’s a place of inspiration, opportunity and variety. We wanted to embody this veritable melting pot in a wine that reminds us all of Cape Town’s unique DNA,” says Wilhelm Coetzee.

The Cape Portrait Range

The Cape Portrait Red 2020 is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz. The wine is soft and generous, exploding with red berry fruits and hints of prune, cinnamon and black pepper. A delight to share with friends over casseroles, grilled chicken and lamb dishes.A blend of Chenin Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc, the Cape Portrait White 2021 is fresh with crisp acidity, bursting with lime, citrus, and tropical fruit. It’s best served for relaxed dining with dishes such as roast chicken, summer salads, grilled fish and pan-fried calamari, a perfect partner to the South African outdoor summer lifestyle.

A Portrait of Cape Town

The wines are available in both 750ml bottles and 2L slimline bag-in-box, with the label designs depicting the vibrancy of the city. The lively illustrations take one on a visual journey through Cape Town – significant landmarks such as the colourful Muizenberg beach huts and the Bo-Kaap, cultural festivals, theatre and music, activities such as running along the Seapoint Promenade, Cape Town’s lively social scene, and then of course, the natural beauty of Cape Town’s fauna, flora and Table Mountain. Collectively, all these places, people, natural attractions and experiences portray the essence of Cape Town.

The Cape Portrait range is available to purchase from leading liquor outlets nationwide, as well as Cape Portrait range from Durbanville Hills,  and retails at R70 for the 750ml bottles and R150 for the 2L bag-in-box.
