Do Something Great To Celebrate This Women’s Day
Did you know?
During the apartheid era in South Africa those classified as ‘black’ were forced to carry a passbook which enabled the maintenance of population segregation and prevented freedom of movement – a violation of human rights. On the 9th August 1965 over 20 000 women marched to the Union Buildings in Pretoria in protest of this act and stood in silence for 30 minutes to show solidarity. 1994 was the inaugural celebration of Women’s Day in SA and the day now represents the fight against this struggle, as well as representing the fight for rights of females in this country. The women who had the courage to take a stand deserve to be celebrated and this Women’s Day we encourage you to raise a toast and remember to those who stood for what they believed in and who fought for a better South Africa for all women.
