Dapper Coffee Co.
A stylish café with a well-thought out menu and excellent coffee.
If you’ve had your fill of twee, or overly hipster coffee joints, then head on over to Dapper Coffee Co. on the corner of Strand and Bree Streets for a dash of debonair. With snappily dressed servers, a cool uncluttered space and great coffee, this spot is sure to become a CBD favourite.
Dapper is located inside the Club9 car showroom – the slick interior (designed by Toni Unterberger of Rivets and Rockets), is complimented by wood finishings and being surrounded by gleaming luxury sports cars adds to its cool style.
We love the fact that the breakfast menu includes a DIY section where you can build the fry up of your dreams, as well as a selection of favourites such as banana bread toast with crispy bacon, tuscan baked eggs in tomato fondue, or quinoa and pearl barley with roast tomatoes, olives, kale, ricotta and poached eggs. We tried the flapjacks with mascarpone and berries – the flapjacks were light, fluffy and utterly delicious. We also tried the stewed chickpeas with poached eggs, served atop sourdough toast. Both dishes were generous, tasty and started the morning off right. If we’d had space we might of tucked into one of the yummy looking pastries lining the front counter, but that would have impaired a productive work day.
The lunch menu consists of a selection of salads and sandwiches, which include options such as a superfood quinoa and bulgar wheat salad with roasted nuts, sweet potato and feta, and smoked trout on rye with confit lemon, beetroot, fennel and cream cheese. For something heartier, a beef burger with skinny fries will hit the spot.
With its lovely open frontage and seating inside, as well as outside, Dapper is ideally placed to overlook the bustle of Bree Street. Best of all it’s open from 7h00 in the morning, so is ideal for early risers to grab coffee (roasted by Tribe) and a bite to eat before the CBD gets crowded.
