Description

Braaied or grilled lamb, beef or pork will just love this coffee-based braai rub.

Ingredients

2 Tbsp (30 ml) ground filter coffee
1 Tbsp (15 ml) sugar
2 tsp (10 ml) Maldon salt flakes
1 tsp (5 ml) freshly ground black pepper
1/2 tsp (2.5 ml) cayenne pepper
2 tsp (10 ml) Robertson’s Texan Steak spice
2 tsp (10 ml) smoked paprika
1/4 tsp (1.25 ml) dried mint

Instructions

Mix all of the ingredients together in an airtight container, seal and store.

Give the container a good shake to remix the ingredients just before you are about to use it.

About 10 minutes before you are ready to braai or grill, massage the meat with olive oil, sprinkle the desired amount of rub onto the meat. Continue to rub and massage the meat for a minute tor two so that the rub will not only form a delicious crust on the outside of the meat, but the flavours will penetrate too.
