Scenery and playground aside, the breakfast will leave you singing! Try the Tomato Delight — a tomato that is loaded with onion, feta and salmon and served with scrambled eggs. Once completely stuffed, you can enjoy a stroll along the coast.

Their breakfasts are simple, but done to perfection and are well-priced. On the Rocks has a scrumptious range of Single Toasts to choose from. Their Jonkershuis toast comes with crispy pork belly, avo, poached egg, field mushroom and pesto. Sound delicious, doesn’t it?

This eatery has an accommodating menu, with satisfying breakfast items. Their Bomb Brekkie Bun is a flavour explosion of chipotle jam, cream cheese, scrambled eggs, bacon and onion rings. For a more health-conscious meal, try their Italiano — it’s divine and comes with two poached eggs, sundried tomatoes, basil pesto, all on a bed of mushrooms.

It’s the ideal spot for a family breakfast, with delicious and healthy options to choose from. We’d recommend their Poached Eggs Hollandaise, you can’t go wrong with it. Their Banting Benedict with garlic mushrooms, topped with streaky bacon and balsamic glazed cherry tomatoes is also a breakfast of note.

This bakery and café has a delicious range of breakfast options, from bircher and smoothie bowls, to eggs Benedict and croque madame. The café has a fabulous grassed outdoor area with a great jungle gym, so parents can knock back that all-important first java, while kids entertain themselves. Be sure to order the Franschhoek Salmon Trout — it’s quite the catch!

MilkWood Deli

west coast milkwoodMilkwood Deli is located on the Atlantic Beach Golf Estate but is open to outside visitors. While you won’t have a sea view like many other places on the list, you may spot some of the wildlife that roam the estate or even catch the perfect putt.

The menu is varied and runs the gamut from healthy breakfast bowls, to more indulgent BNB French Toast (Bacon, Nutella and Banana) or Churros Toast tossed in cinnamon sugar and rooibos salted caramel. We love that they also offer a low carb protein plate and even a waffle with sugar-free lemon curd. They haven’t forgotten about the little ones with a great selection of brekkies to power up a kid’s day. Truly a great place to grab breakfast in Melkbosstrand!

Bread & ButterBread & Butter Café has been a staple on the West Coast for a number of years now. It is well-known for serving a stellar line up of beautiful cakes and sweet treats, all of which are housed on a central table, complete with tiered cake stands and beautiful glass cloches. If you have a sweet tooth it can be torture to choose!

In terms of breakfasts, they cater for all – from wraps and croissants to a colossal brekkie burger stack and even a bacon & avo banting breakfast with low carb bread. If you feel like a morning treat, we highly recommend their breakfast banana split, complete with berry coulis and roasted nut granola.
