If you haven’t yet headed to the eclectic and vibrant Stanely Beer Yard then you haven’t truly experienced Joburg’s finest. The ambience is relaxed, fresh and friendly and boasts a huge variety of craft and local beers, boutique wines and an artisanal drinks collection. Their flavoursome food menu has everything from artisan hot dogs, to beer basted prego rolls and sharing boards overflowing with meats, cheeses and Mediterranean vegetables.

If the food doesn’t tickle your fancy then the music should move you. They have vinyl evenings on Thursdays and Fridays, live bands on a Saturday and a 60s and 70s music themed afternoon every last Sunday of the month. If ever there was a trendy and relaxed spot, then this is it. Surrounded by old architecture and towering trees, they have transformed an industrial-looking building into a hidden gem.

Aside from all the music-themed events, the beer yard is also offering a Valentine’s Dinner, serving some of their top quality food in the courtyard.

For starters, guest can choose from a deep fried crumbed halloumi and button mushrooms served with a sweet chilli mayo dip; or a Spring Salad, with crisp leaves, sugar coated walnuts, deep fried Brie and roasted baby tomatoes.

It’s all about the meat for mains, choose either a 400gr marinated baby back and belly ribs; or 250gr rib eye brushed with olive oil and chopped red and green peppers and chimichurri on the side. Mains are served with a choice of shoestring fries or a cool cabbage salad. To end the evening off guest can bite into a chocolate brownie with homemade halva ice cream.Included in the Valentine’s special is your choice of a glass of sparkling wine, a craft beer or a craft cider for only R 260 per person

If crafty food is not your thing, then you can partake in their first beer-tasting event held at the end of February. Led by two certified beer judges, guests can enjoy tasting six unique craft beers and learn about the different origins and styles of each one. The Beer tasting event takes place on 28 February and cost R50 per person.
