Molten Toffee
'Kloof Street's latest little treasure for coffee lovers'
Kloof Street has acquired another little treasure for coffee lovers, in the form of a little hole-in-the-wall eatery and shop, Molten Toffee. The shop is run by friend duo Robbi Gorlick and Cian Van der Vyver who met while working at another spot up the road. The pair have realised their dream of working together to open up their own place.
The eatery fits right in on Kloof Street and if you haven’t walked the street in a while, you might not even realise it’s new. There are a few tables outside under a tree, window seating with a great view of passers-by and a few tables that line one side of the shop. The shop gets a lot of natural light, making it a perfect spot to enjoy a quick cuppa or light lunch. We loved the addition of fresh flowers and the cute button stools, which work in this small, but inviting space. The wooden furniture, low hanging brass lights and screed floors perfectly complement the feature bar. Split into two sections, one covered in bespoke, graphic black and white patterned tiles and the other in a brass finish.
The deli counter is stocked with bite-sized sweet treats, quiches, croissants, cake, breakfast cups and other yummy offerings.
You can order items like toasted sandwiches and specials like chicken kofta with dill and olive potatoes. The menu is small, as the kitchen space is limited, but will change constantly, so you’re guaranteed to find something you’ll love.
Pop by for a take-away before work or grab a coffee during lunchtime and soak up the lively atmosphere of Kloof Street. Be sure to try the chocolate cups (they look like Reese’s Pieces and taste like little bites of heaven) and Deluxe coffee.
A word of caution though, if you work in the area you may just become a regular …
Be sure to try the chocolate cups…
