Chef Luke Dale Roberts has launched delivery of gourmet lockdown food hampers in Cape Town and Johannesburg. The LDR Gourmet Lockdown Hampers offering is already available in Cape Town and commences in Johannesburg from the week beginning May 18th.

These gourmet lockdown hampers features three choices, with each hamper designed as a weekly basket of goods, providing the focal point for multiple meals. The gourmet lockdown hampers are priced at R1800, R3000 and R5000 respectively and exclude a delivery charge per order. The hampers are available via daily delivery on Mondays through to Sundays in Cape Town including the Winelands areas of Paarl, Stellenbosch, Franschhoek and Somerset West as well as once a week in Johannesburg.

Luke Dale Roberts will feature some of his favourite classics in these gourmet hampers such as duck and pork belly country pate, beef bourguignon, juniper and citrus cured salmon gravadlax, navarin of lamb shank along with various cheeses and sweet options, with rose scented meringues, Luke’s trifle and chocolate fondants the perfect treats at any time of the day.

“The current lockdown has engulfed many special events, with birthdays, anniversaries and more having to be spent at home. As we continue along this indefinite path, we have tried to create hampers that combine both the everyday, as well as unique and speciality items that will serve to make every meal a little more special, for any occasion.”

As such, this venture is a not-for-profit endeavour, with the sole purpose of keeping our employees livelihoods intact and buying time until we find out what the new normal of the South African restaurant industry will become”, comments Dale Roberts.

Apart from keeping his considerable staff complement employed, Dale Roberts also prepares an evening meal, daily, for forty (40) persons at The Haven Night Shelter in Cape Town.
