Grenache Rosé 2014
Sutherland Vineyards, in Elgin, was bought by the Thelema family trust in 2002. Sutherland farm’s cooler temperatures, steeper gradients and soils with higher rates of water retention combined to create a micro-climate ideal for premium grape growing. The grapes grown at Sutherland are harvested and transported from Elgin to Thelema Estate in Stellenbosch for processing and bottling.
Winemaker Rudi Schultz loved the pretty fermentation aromas and flavours of fermenting Grenache grapes and this sparked his interest in using the cultivar for the production of a Rosé. The result is a dry and deliciously refreshing 100% Grenache Rosé packed with berries and red fruit aromas, watermelon sparkles and the slightest hint of white pepper and candy floss on the finish.
Visit the Thelema Mountain Vineyard tasting room to try a sample of this delicious new wine. Don’t forget to take a few home with you, at R60 at the cellar door, it’s a steal.
