“Of course, the wrong choices could detract rather than enhance the flavour of one or the other. It is a delicate process that we want to explore with people who appreciate good whisky, chocolate or both. It is certainly an exciting departure from the traditional concept of whisky and cigar pairings,” says Marc Weber, The Table Bay’s Food and Beverage Manager.

At the Whisky and Chocolate Pairings guests will be taken on an insightful journey of three single malts by Glen Grant. These include the entry-level Majors Reserve, a 10-year single malt (award-winning single malt in 2016) and a 12-year single malt. These will be paired with samples from the premium Lindt Excellence Dark Chocolate range.

“We have chosen Glen Grant single malts because we believe they are quite underrated. Yet, for someone who is starting to explore single malts, they are an exceptionally flavourful, easy drinking and well priced.

“When selecting chocolate to pair, Lindt came up trumps for its smooth texture, layers of flavour and melt-in-your mouth sumptuousness.”

The Table Bay’s Whisky and Chocolate Pairings will take place on Monday nights at the Camissa Brasserie. The cost per person is R175.

Booking is essential to attend the Whisky and Chocolate Pairing experience. The pairing experiences are on request and will be hosted for a minimum of two people and a maximum of 20. To book, contact 021 406 5988.
