Captivate the senses with Celebrity Chef Pete Goffe-Wood & Nedeburg at The Table Bay
Nederburg, Platter’s By Diners Club South African Wine Guide’s 2017 Winery of the Year, will be offering a very rare sampling of its four Platter’s 2017 five-star wines, as rated by the authoritative guide’s panel of judges.
This culinary showcase, set to take guests on a sensory journey of discovery, will take place at Cape Town’s luxurious The Table Bay, situated in the iconic V&A Waterfront, on Thursday, 29 June at 18h30.
The event will be hosted by Jean-Pierre Rossouw, the publisher of the Platter’s guide, together with Nederburg’s white-wine maker, Natasha Boks, and renowned celebrity chef, Pete Goffe-Wood of MasterChef South Africa, as MC.
This special dinner marks the start of a series of exclusive wine and food pairing evenings at The Table Bay, in collaboration with the Platter’s guide. The jaw-dropping menu for the first dinner with Nederburg was creatively devised by The Table Bay’s Executive Chef, Jocelyn Myers-Adams, to complement the unique taste profile of each individual Nederburg wine.
Says Myers-Adams: “Our first Platter’s pairing dinner with Nederburg is indeed a meeting of minds in celebration of the exquisite interplay between food and wine. We are delighted to partner with South Africa’s finest winery for this event, which will feature some of Nederburg’s Private Bin wines, rated five stars by Platter’s in its 2017 edition. These are exclusively available for purchase by registered buyers at the annual Nederburg Auction, making it a most auspicious and rare occasion.”
Now in its 43rd year, the prestigious Nederburg Auction has been held annually since 1975 and is one of the most important fixtures on the South African wine calendar.
The award-winning wines that guests will enjoy with Myers-Adams’ spectacularly orchestrated dinner menu are: Nederburg Cuvée Brut, served with fresh oysters on arrival; Nederburg Private Bin D234 Sauvignon Blanc 2015 (Platter’s 2017 five-star wine) paired with fish carpaccio as a starter; Nederburg Private Bin R163 Cabernet Sauvignon 2013 (Platter’s 2017 five-star wine) matched with biltong-dusted AAA-grade beef fillet for the first main; Nederburg Heritage Heroes The Brew Master 2014 (Platter’s 2017 five-star wine) accompanied by succulent duck as the second main; and Nederburg The Winemasters Noble Late Harvest 2015 (Platter’s 2017 five-star wine) served with a delectable chocolate mousse bomb for dessert.
In the true style of The Table Bay, Myers-Adams has woven the unique flavours of indigenous plants and herbs foraged from the Cape’s natural surrounds into her dishes for a truly authentic South African taste experience.
She hints that various scents and flavours will be delivered through a variety of culinary methods – so expect an all-encompassing sensory experience with interesting mists, powders, foams, gels and smoke!
To preserve the intimate and interactive atmosphere, seats are limited. Booking is essential by contacting The Table Bay. The cost per person is R650 and includes bubbly and a canapé on arrival, a four-course dinner with each course served with a glass of Nederburg wine, and a bottle of Nederburg Heritage Heroes The Brew Master 2014 (a Platter’s 2017 five-star wine) to take home.
One lucky guest attending the dinner will stand a chance to win an exceptional experience for two, including a night at The Table Bay (including breakfast), a tour and tasting at Nederburg in Paarl, as well as lunch at The Red Table restaurant, situated in Nederburg’s historic manor house. The prize is valued at R11 350. Terms and conditions apply.
