Cape Town Tastes the World’s Finest Whiskies

It’s time for Cape Town whisky fans to get ready to welcome the Whisky Live Showroom, the exciting boutique-style tasting event that will bring some of the world’s finest whiskies to the city from 18 – 20 June 2015.

This intimate showcase of more than 100 expressions of whisky will be hosted at one of the city’s most popular venues, The Lookout (on the V&A Waterfront), and provides the perfect opportunity for a pre-Father’s Day outing, or even Father’s Day gift shopping.

Show Highlights

Arran, presented by passionate Scot, Andy Bell.
Tomatin, Tullibardine and Smokehead presented by  the well-known Dullstrooom trio from Wild About Whisky.

Mickey Baloyi, ‘the African Scot’ will present six expressions of Glenbrynth, including its 40-year old single malt.

Local whisky expert Candice Baker will present The Macallan’s 1824 Series.

Master distiller Andy Watts will be on hand to guide visitors through the ever-popular and 100% South African Bains Cape Mountain Whisky and Three Ships.

Whisky legend and kilt-resplendent Keeper of the Quaich, Pierre Meintjes will present Bunnahabhain.

Brian Glass, Keeper of the Quaich and all-round font of whisky knowledge will expertly guide fans of the dram through a tasting of Scottish Leader’s newly-launched Signature.

Other well-known whiskies available for sampling include Glenmorangie (including the Quinta Ruban), The Glenlivet, Chivas Regal, The Balvenie, Glenfiddich, Glen Grant and the ever-quirky Black Bottle. 

Innis & Gunn craft beers will also be presented by the ever-entertaining Jason Duganzich at the Whisky Live Showroom given that they are matured in casks previously used for aging Kentucky bourbon thus bringing the worlds of whisky and beer together in a delicious, refreshing pint. Innis & Gunn Original was introduced to South Africa in 2014, and Innis & Gunn Rum Finish and Innis & Gunn Toasted Oak IPA will also be available.Innisandgunn-700x400Untitled-1
Ticket Information
Cost: R170 (Includes a complimentary tasting glass, a 500ml bottle of Valpré water and a 2015 SA Whisky Handbook (while stocks last). Tickets also include 15 tasting vouchers, and those who register for the Whisky Live Festival Club at the event, will get R20 cash back, or an extra five tasting vouchers.)

The Whisky Live Showroom promotes responsible drinking. No persons under the age of 18 years will be allowed into the Showrooms. Designated driver tickets are available for R105 with a bottle of Valpré mineral water included in the ticket price.
