The Sea Point revival is not over yet. The newest kid on the block is Bootlegger Coffee Company and along with its trendy name, the place itself oozes cool. Pieter Blom opened this little, old New York-esque hot spot on the up-and-coming Regent Road in Sea Point. Their aim is not only to bring you good coffee but also to give you a spot where you can have a beer and watch the Sea Point streets come alive. The décor is simple yet slick and designed by incredibly talented, Olgar Barrow. Complete with unique monochrome tiles and industrial brass light fittings, the interior sets a super stylish scene for a cup of coffee. Beyond the amazing coffee (which is roasted on site by Pieter himself), Bootlegger Coffee Company takes you from breakfast to dinner with a menu boasting some tasty dishes. Think omelette with goats cheese and spinach to start your day off, moving onto a lunch of grilled calamari with chilli and garlic. Keen on something lighter? Their evening tapas menu is a great pairing with those after work drinks. For the early birds, there are R10 coffees from 6:30 to 8:30. Or, if you’re the opposite of a morning person, head on over for their half price cocktails and beer from 16:30 to 18:30. Words: Nikita Buxton | Photography: Aletta Petzer
