South African Charities You Can Support this Madiba Day

Words: Crush

Acts of service look different for everyone, whether you’re creative, have green fingers or are simply passionate about helping other humans in need. To celebrate Madiba Day, we’ve listed some non-profit organisations and charities in South Africa that you can support. Here’s to making a difference wherever and however you can, with just 67 minutes.

What Is Madiba Day?

South Africans celebrate Madiba Day on July 18th to honour Nelson Mandela’s legacy and his impact on our nation.

On this day, people are encouraged to dedicate 67 minutes to community service, symbolising each year Mandela spent fighting for human rights and the abolishment of apartheid. Activities can range from volunteering, community clean-ups and supporting local charities to participating in educational events and acts of kindness. The significance of the 67 minutes serves as a reminder that everyone has the power to make a positive impact, however small or big.
