Hop aboard the Franschhoek Wine Tram

Take a trip to the wine country and enjoy one of Franschhoek’s famous tourist attractions – the Franschhoek Wine Tram. The hop-on-hop-off wine tour takes you through the spectacular Franschhoek valley, taking in the exquisite vineyards and beautiful surroundings and stopping along the way so that you can try some world-class food and wines.

A tramline, which lay dormant for more than a decade, transports you through the magical wine valley, a perfect way to spend your weekend whether you’re a tourist from abroad, or a local touring your own country. Sit back and relax as you journey through the vineyards in an open-sided tram and open air tram-bus which stops at some of the country’s oldest and most distinguished wine estates, hopping on and off as you please.

Take as much time as you chose at each destination, be it for a wine tasting, a cellar tour, or a leisurely lunch. Just make sure you know when the next tram will be coming by to pick you up again! The whole tour is narrated by a cheerful and informative guide and includes complimentary tastings at selected wine farms.

The tram can host a maximum of 25 guests per departure, the rate is R200.00 per person which includes two complimentary tastings on the route at specific wineries (Blue Line: La Couronne, Holden Manz, La Bourgogne) (Red Line: Maison, Eikehof (welcome taste), Dieu Donne) as well as various discounts at the remaining wineries. Additional wine tastings range between R25 – R55 per person for the tasting of 3-4 wines.

Blue Line – Mont Rochelle, La Couronne, Holden Manz, La Bourgogne, La Bri, Rickety Bridge and Grande Provence.

Starting point – The tour starts from our ticket office on 32 Huguenot Road, Franschhoek Square.

Tickets for the tram are:

  • R 200 per person for Adults
  • R 85 per person for Kids between 3 years and 17 years of age

The tram runs 7 days a week departing every 40 minutes between 10h00 and 14h40.
